A glimpse into our adventures and travels in Mexico.
Turquoise Waters of the Huasteca
“5 Good Minutes” by Canoe & Kayak Magazine
Located in the Northern state of San Luis Potosi in the heart of the Sierra Madre lies an incredible series of rivers ranging from travertine waterfalls to deep, narrow, technical canyons. Our journey starts in Tampico where you will be met at the airport by your Esprit guides. From there it is a whirlwind of amazing paddling at the Cascadas de Micos, El Salto and the Santa Maria. We spend some time off the beaten track exploring other "hidden gems" of the region including the famous "Basement of the Swallows" as featured on Planet Earth and the eccentric gardens of Sir Edward James, an artist that warrants the distinction as "truly crazy" in the eyes of surrealist Salvador Dali as well as rappel beside the 100m Cascada de Tamul for the world's most spectacular put-in! Our base for the week is at our jungle camp at the Cascadas de Micos where we stay in comfortable Cabanas at the takeout of this amazing run. If you are looking for warm tropical rivers 'steep' in adventure, then join us on the Turquoise Waters Of The Huasteca.
