Swiftwater Rescue Technician
Level 1

Now NFPA compliant, the new SRT 1 program is designed to meet the needs of professional rescue organizations such as firefighters, search and rescue teams, police and emergency response units. Similar to the WRT 1 program, it highlights the evolution of low to high risk rescue techniques and emphasizes self, team and victim rescue. You will be taught to understand moving water dynamics, handle swiftwater hazards and obstacles, effectively use throwbags, control in-water contact rescues, set up technical rope systems, utilize more advanced rescue equipment and much more. Emphasis is placed on utilizing the incident command structure throughout rescue simulations. The SRT 1 - NFPA compliant course builds the necessary skill and confidence for professional rescuers to perform safe and effective rescues in a swiftwater environment.

Prerequisites: None.
