Paddle Raft Guide Training
Level 1

Esprit's level 1 Guide Training program emphasizes fundamental boating techniques, whitewater skills, team management, group leadership, rescue techniques and emergency training. Core knowledge of rapid theory (hydrology), safety equipment and emergency procedures will also be addressed. Participants will acquire a solid foundation of knowledge and skill to effectively guide paddle rafts through class I-III whitewater. Special attention is given to river safety and safe boating practices.

The course will provide participants with an IRF certification as a TGR. The TGR (Training Guide River) recognizes that upon completion of the Guide Training Level 1 program, participants are able to competently guide a raft in a safety conscious manner on rivers up to class 2 with an RG2 (River Guide Class 2) or higher in the raft.
