Whitewater kayaking instruction on the Ottawa River with Esprit. Intermediate Technical Skills Clinic.
Join Esprit on a 3 day Technical Skills course to refresh your paddling techniques and fine tune your kayak roll.
Esprit's Technical Skills Clinic is designed to perfect your whitewater kayaking technique in class III+ whitewater. Challenge your kayaking skills on a variety of rivers including the Ottawa, Gatineau, Petawawa and Kipawa rivers.
Technical Skills Clinic - 3 Days
Going beyond the basic fundamentals of kayaking, utilizing more advanced river running strategies and developing effective techniques for play boating on waves and in holes... from day one, you will be on the river perfecting your paddling technique and bomb proofing your whitewater roll. Esprit's expert instructors will help you to take your paddling ability to new levels. Most clinics are held on 2 different rivers depending on the group and water levels.
Courses are based at the "Pointe", Esprit's riverside lodge on the banks of the Ottawa River. The Pointe is ideally located close to great learning spots for beginners on the Ottawa and Coulonge Rivers.
All Esprit courses follow the proficiency guidelines set forth by Whitewater Ontario. The Technical Skills Clinic focuses on perfecting the skills set for the Proficiency Level B and fine tuning the kayak roll in whitewater. For more information on this skill level, please download the

Technical Skills Clinic Itinerary
The "Technical Skills Clinic" intermediate kayak course is designed to fine tune your technical strokes and increase confidence paddling class III whitewater.

What's included in your course
All courses include your paddling equipment (kayak, skirt, paddle, lifejacket, helmet and wetsuit), certified kayak instructors, and river transportation. Meals and accommodations are not included in the course cost.

What you should bring with you for your course
Swimsuit, quick dry shorts, warm fleece/wool sweater, polypropylene/synthetic long sleeve shirt & tights/leggings (ie. long underwear), water sandals/shoes/socks for use in water (preferably nothing too bulky so that you can wear them inside your kayak), personal paddling gear you may already have, sunscreen, bug repellent, towel, bag to carry wet gear to and from river. If you are camping you will also need to bring a tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad and flashlight.
