Rivers and Rainforest
of Costa Rica

Around the globe there is no destination that ignites ones spirit of adventure like Costa Rica. Two coasts, mountains, rivers and rainforest set the stage for a paddling adventure like no other.

Located north of San Jose in the mountains draining towards the Caribbean lies our base, a quaint eco-lodge in the Chilamate Rainforest Reserve on the banks of the Sarapiqui River. Our trip features 6 days on the water paddling the best of Costa Rican whitewater.

Our journey starts in San Jose where you will be met at the airport by your Esprit guides. From there it's a 2 hour drive to our riverside lodge where our paddling adventures begin. While on the river, we enjoy clean, warm, challenging whitewater… and keep an eye out for some of Costa Rica's abundant flora and fauna. The rivers abound with wildlife such as howler monkeys, three toed sloth, iguanas, the world's most abundant and unique varieties of frogs, as well as tropical plants and birdlife (including Toucans) too numerous to count.

Did you know? “Toucans” hallmark and colorful giant bill can measure more than half the length of its body.

Off the water we visit a butterfly sanctuary, a "serpentarium", pineapple plantation and a stroll through the rainforest right out the front door of the lodge (optional activities can be arranged including horseback riding, canopy tours and rappelling in the area).

View of Costa Rica's abundant flora. Rivers and Rainforest of Costa Rica includes whitewater paddling, whitewater kayaking, whitewater rafting and white water open canoeing with state of the art open boats on the best rivers Costa Rica has to offer!

If you are looking for an exotic, exciting, and adventurous whitewater holiday well off the beaten track… we hope you join us this fall and early winter in Costa Rica!
